Winter Wheat
Production in NW Minnesota
Let's think ahead and explore
the potential of seeding winter wheat
in northwest Minnesota. If it survives the winter
and spring cold, winter wheat has an advantage of a longer
growing season than spring wheat, because it establishes
in the fall and starts growth early in the spring.
Weed
Control in Sugarbeet: Observations in 2004
Common lambsquarters was named as the worst
weed in sugarbeet by 18% and
Kochia was named as the worst weed in sugarbeet by 46%
of sugarbeet growers in eastern North Dakota and
Minnesota.
Fall Soil Testing Season
It is time for soil sampling to
begin for next years soil fertility program even if
fertilizer will not be applied until spring or the future
crop is yet unknown.
Wheat Diseases: A 2004
Growing Season Summary
The weather this growing season has been anything but
normal. Plant pathogens (organisms that cause disease)
require environments that favor disease production.

use of credit is one of the major decisions a farmer or
any business manager will make that can add to the success
of the business or lead to its demise.
