Small Grain Crop Staging & Management
Clinics
Producers are invited to participate in upcoming
University of Minnesota Extension Small Grain Staging &
Management Clinics to be held at various locations in June
in Northwest Minnesota. University of Minnesota Crop
Specialists and Extension Educators will be on hand, to
answer 2006 growing season concerns, questions and to
exchange information. The Clinics will be hands-on; with
producers encouraged to bring in wheat and barley samples
for evaluation of crop stage and participate in a
discussion of management decisions related to stage of
growth. Recognizing the proper crop stage is important in
disease identification and the timing associated with the
application of crop protection chemicals. Crop stages of
tillering, boot, flag leaf and flowering will be discussed
with a focus on the diseases of tan spot, leaf rust and
scab.
Planned clinic times and locations are:
